«Schützengarten» beer - the beer of the city

Did you know that the city of St.Gallen has a long tradition in brewing? St.Gallen’s locals are proud to own the oldest brewery in Switzerland. The brewery «Schützengarten» was founded in 1779 and is incidentally the owner of Hotel Metropol. The locals affectionately call their beer «Schüga». Many of the different beers types are actually available. If you like a beer from the tap, order a «Stange» (3 dl beer) or ask for the smaller called «Lady» (2 dl).

Good news for smokers: In the pub Barterre you're still allowed to smoke in the smoker lounge inside outside on the terrace. Another good thing to say: Barterre is open 365 days a year.
